We arrived bright and early to Tallin after a 1am border crossing (lucky they let Kate through really as she looked so grumpy and half asleep!). We ended up staying in the most beautiful apartment while we were here complete with kitchen and our own bathroom for the price of 2 dorm beds in Russia. A real treat and we made good use of it with huge brunches and great 'home cooked' dinners.
We were pretty surprised by how modern and clean Tallin was (expecting some dark Soviet style city perhaps?) and found the people a lot more friendly than most inhabitants of the last country we visited. The old city was great to wander around with its cobblestone roads and fort walls and watchtowers. We also took a trip out to a little seaside village and National Park on the Baltic Coast where we discovered blueberries growing in the wild.
The next morning we set off for Finland aboard a giant cruise ship.
