Well, we were going to save this entry to talk about our first experiences of London, but it has been eventful here, to say the least.

But, for a quick update, we didn't even last 24 hours in our pub job ( and I can see couple people shaking their head right now going 'I told you so!'. The place we were staying was a pigsty and the people downright rude, so we didn't even start a shift, but left straight away. We have spent the last few days just traipsing around London trying to find somewhere to live. You wouldn't beleive some of the crappy places we have seen. Basically, for double the price we payed for our Newmarket house, we have found a one room flat, with kitchen ( in the same room) and our own bathroom (this is a bit of a score, beleive it or not?). It is in a really cool area though - Belsize Park, if anyone knows it.

Fortunately for us, we managed to find a place the evening before the bombings, so were NOT on the tube yesterday morning, even though we had travelled through a couple of those stations the day before. It is all a bit surreal, we were reading the papers that were full of winning the Olympics, and how excited the city was, and how it was going to be such a positive thing for London when we switched on the news.

But, I am truly amazed at how calm everything is here. Everyone is just getting on with thier lives and trying not to make a big deal out of it. Practically all the buses and trains are up and running this morning, all the televisions are showing thier normal programs. So, we are going to do exactly the same thing and enjoy London. You can't let it affect you. So, that's it for know - Mick has an interview next week for a job, and I will start looking next week. Despite everything, I am still really excited to be in London - it is such an amazing city. We've added some photos of our temporary home - check out the local!
