Onwards!  In our accidental quest to take a different kind of transportation every day, we decided to take the train to our next stop on the map.  We had lots o fun whilst the sun was still out, congratulating ourselves for saving money by getting fan seats instead of air-con.  "It's so NICE with these huge windows!  What a cross-breeze!  And we brought snacks too!"  And then the snacks ran out and THEN the sun went down and the bugs came flying in the huge windows...and then Nikki caved and ate the train food, the consequences of which we would not learn until the next day.  The REAL issue was getting off said train.  Had we been travelling to the end of the line, there would be no problem.  However, the train made stops just about every half hour and all were unannounced and all were of the "quick, jump off with your bags, it's your stop!" variety.  We started asking around for help, but the name was hard to pronounce, and turns out- what fun! - they have a short form for the city and just do not know the formal name.  As in, "Toronto?  I don't know...maybe you mean TO?"  Anywho, after much confusion and major Thai Stare, I (via craning my neck out the doorway) finally decide we're at our stop.  And THEN an authority man strolls on in, checks our seats and his chart, and casually mentions we should get off here.

Checked into a very adorable small hostel in Phitsanulok, or should I say, "Phi-lok"...Nikki falls asleep immediately (we are very tired from the stress, in case you couldn't tell) and I trudge to the bathroom...but first!  I am immediately cornered by a boy with huge dreads who wants to show me around the hostel.  The German.  "HA-LO!  Don't I know you from Angkor?  This place is NICE, yeah?!"  And then enter American Girl.  "Oh HEY!  Where you from?  CANADA?  That's so fun!"

Woke up the next morning to find that Nikki was not feeling so hot (she tells me the details are not needed), so we decided to spend the day relaxing in what turns out is a really fun town.  But not before The German tells me his plans!  "Ha-lo!  We leave today!"  That night we went down to the river that runs through downtown, a really busy area with lots of vendors and a park full of nighttime Thai aerobics (?) and very cool floating restaurants.  As luck would have it, an AWESOME cover band was playing that night (the only reason we knew it was cover was cause people sang along, as was all in Thai).  Without proper introduction, we took it upon ourselves to name the band members based on hairdos.  Angel was our favourite, with his wispy angel side bangs, and then there was Beatles, the lead singer who we think was trying to communicate with us by saying "OKAY!" and looking our way before songs.  Also Jack Black, that's obvious, and then Indie Drummer, with his asymetrical cut.  Let's not forget Obnoxious Groupie, who ruined our chance to take a picture by getting onstage to sing a song when we were about to leave.  Lame.
