So kiss me and smile for me / Tell me that you'll wait for me / Hold me like you'll never let me go.../ Every place I go, I'll think of you / Every song I sing, I'll sing for you

Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE lyrics (John Denver)

In California again after our unplanned return here from Costa Rica, we stored the bikes and panniers in Santa Barbara and loaded up the backpacks bound for Asia, our favorite part of the world for this kind of travel. And to paraphrase the John Denver lyric, we don't know when we'll be back again. We bought a one-way ticket to our old home of three years, Kamakura, Japan.

Where after That?, It was a difficult decision. Summer is the wrong time to visit most Southeast Asia and India. We checked out about 20 travel books from the library and began leafing through them, paying most attention to the 'when to go' section. Northern China - Mongolia - Western China seemed the best place to spend June, July, & August.

Our next order of business was to get a new mascot. 'The Frog' was frog-napped in November. No ransom demand was received and we have missed him. We need a new good luck charm. We broke down and went to a few Rainforest Cafes in search for a new frog. The decision was tough, but picked one and strapped him to the backpack!

Hiro-san's joke about you being 'no-mats' made me smile!!

Love your new froggy. Have fun in Japan and wherever you next visit. Looking forward to your next adventure. Having a great time in Ajijic. Now know how to pronounce it

Have fun in Asia! If you get a chance in January to head south to New Zealand (South Island), it is absolutely phenomenal in the January time-frame. I just got back from two weeks backpacking on the Appalachian Trail - I forgot how wonderful it is to get away! Wishing you two the best!

Hey let me know when you're going to Mongolia. Jess' boss is from there and I'm sure we can get some info on places to go.

Safe travels!
