Where I stayed
Camped at Huguenot Memorial park.
After cashing the timeshare check, we headed south through Georgia. A brief lunch stop and quick walk in Savannah old town. We brought a nice selection of CD's and we hum and sing along as the mood strikes us. We're so relaxed, no deadlines, it's a luxury we don't take for granted.
At the Florida border, we left the interstate and found our way due east to A1A, the coastal (scenic) highway. Initially, the route was dotted with strip malls and random subdivisions. We turned south and found carefully tended properties, a country club, and a wildlife viewing area.
At about 5 PM we stumbled on City Park and Camping just on the outskirts of Jacksonville Florida. It is in a rural area and the real city could be seen across the water in the distance. We shared this seaside campground with 2 other tents and an RV. We barely had enough time to set our tent up in daylight. A mile down the road we dined in fabulous seafood restaurant.
