Where I stayed
After a brief stop over with Shelley and Adi we headed to Koh Samed. Because Mum and Dad were with us we had the pleasure of a taxi to the port, instead of public transport. Wooo hooo! The ferry ride over to the island was short and sweet and then we piled into a truck to take us to our resort. Unfortunately the resort surroundings were a bit grotty and there was no beach. Mum came to the rescue and got agreement from the owner that we could stay one night and then find a beach resort - instead of the four that I had booked us in for! The place we were in did have a lovely pier out into the sea and we spent the afternoon and evening enjoying Leo beers and some great food. It was "just like Dartmouth" according to Mum!!!
The next day we were back in the truck and searching for a nice beach resort. We went through some hell holes but eventually got to Tubtims. Thank god for that! It had a lovely restaurant out onto the beach and nice bungalows (well Mum and Dad's was lovely - ours was a shed with a bed in!).
The next 4 days involved a lot of reading (me and Michael), people watching (Mum), ordering spicy food then dashing to the bar for ice cream (Dad). Dad also caused a lot of amusement by complaining about the lighting one night for about half an hour, saying it was different to the other nights and quite dark. We then realised he'd still got his sunglasses on!!!!
We had a lovely time relaxing and eating our own body weight every day! The speed boat journey back to the pier almost ruined all that relaxing though!!!
We had had a lovely 2 weeks with Mum and Dad and they had treated us a heck of a lot. We were very sad to wave goodbye to them and our life of luxuries!
