Several days ago I received a questionnaire from one of my friends who is in charge of the International Communication and Multimedia Association in Denmark. I saw it and abandoned it for a while…for the moment when I would really feel that I have something to say. Here's what I came up with!

Please write your name, nationality and which university you are studying at right now.

Please attach a picture of you at the location!

Mianda Galan-studying at BCIT University in Vancouver, Canada

Where do you study now and what courses do you follow?

BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) in Vancouver Canada.

I’M FOLLOWING: SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BUSINESSES, INTERVIEWING FOR RADIO AND TELEVISION, BRAND FROM INSIDE OUT, PROMOTIONAL STRATEGIES, TV PRODUCTION AND PLANNING

Do you like the atmosphere in the university?

Best university ever! Everything is great here: the campus is huge, the teachers are very friendly and the courses are super!

How would you compare your current country to Denmark?

The cultures are pretty different. Canadian people are more open and extremely friendly unlike Danes who are very helpful but only if you ask them.

The size of the countries and towns is pretty obvious. Herning is a small city while Vancouver is huge!

Was it hard to choose between an internship and studies abroad?

No, because I really wanted to see how does it feel like being an exchange and getting to know other exchange students for a short period. I guess everything is more intense and the experience is full of events and fun!

I want to pursue an internship after finishing my bachelor and another one during my masters. I guess I will be more prepared then and have more knowledge that I could apply.

What helped you make a decision?

My strong will to get to know another world, another culture, the will of seeing the world and especially my background area (communication) from different perspectives.  Being stuck in a place for a long time doesn’t help you evolve!

What can you tell about the city you are living in now?

The best city I have ever visited so far. The blend of cultures, the mountains, the Pacific Ocean, the smooth streets, night life, university, people &sunsets, the way it generally makes me be is what makes me feel so happy that I have chosen this place!

What is the most interesting thing about your studies and life in this city?

The fact that I like what I am doing. The teachers in the class are very inspirational and motivational and I never use my laptop while being there because they completely catch my attention.

They have so much practical experience that they are sharing with us so we are basically learning from their real experiences.

The life in the city is…as I said…amazing! Vancouver is the best place where you can find anything you want!

What is the most important thing a student should know before applying to this particular university?

He/ She should be competitive. I guess there are just 2 free places for those who wanna study in Vancouver. So first of all study in Denmark and be ready to fight for your desires.

The university in Canada is very well seen by all the people around. Whenever I say that I am studying at BCIT people tell me that this is a tough university and teachers require a lot of input from students. That’s true. There will be many projects and assignment but all these make you better and well-prepared for real-life situations!

Be courageous and open! The university life will easily become part of your life!

Anything you would like to add?

I definitely recommend this university wholeheartedly! It’s a great experience to be here that I will always cherish and never forget! I want to come back here…one day! It’s on my wish list!
