Weekends in Vancouver are wonderful! The streets are packed with people from all over the world, each one with their own different stories and dreams.

Last weekend was a great weekend for me. I was off from Thursday to Monday and Saturday I've been attending a course at the campus Downtown. There were so many different things that I wanted to do either alone or as being part of a group but it turned out that out of my whole group of exchange friends I were the only one free on Thursday.

So, Thursday I decided to visit my Indian friend Tarak who is working as a chemist at SFU University and saw the campus +the facilities it offers. The main campus is located atop Burnaby Mountain, at an elevation of 365 meters from where you can see all the city and beautiful mountain views. I saw people reading close to "the mirrors" (lakes) as they call them and having a drink in front of the spectacular mountain views. The campus is huge and I felt as if I were in a movie out there. There were so many activities and markets for students so I decided to try the swimming pool with my friend.

After swimming around 15 lanes and having some fun there while going for the lunch, I’ve been texting with one of my new friends and decided to go for a walk in Deer Lake Park close to my house.

It was a beautiful and sunny afternoon and the walk close by the lake led us to one of the attraction points where you can rent a boat. So why not? It ended up being the best opportunity to enjoy a beautiful sunset in Vancouver!

Have to say that time flew so fast and it was already late by the time I had to go out and enjoy my first night in a club Downtown. I decided together with the group to pick a club for international students where they were holding an international party which ended up being GREAT! All of us were crazily dancing and enjoying their time until the club closed and we had to leave. We should definitely go out as a group more often!

Quite surprising that night was the fact that I met a Romanian guy at the bar to whom I was speaking in English without knowing each other’s nationalities. After a while it was funny to discover that we even had relatives and friends in the same cities in Romania! Sometimes the world seems to be so small…

The night ended with us crazily riding a stoned-bull in the middle of the city while taking pictures and a nice drive back home while enjoying Vancouver at night.

Friday was off so I decided to go out with Vaida, my new Romanian friend and my Dutch friend Joshua . We went to Stanley Park, which is recognized as one of the great urban parks of the world. The view was amazing: mountains and the city, smooth alleys and a beautiful sunset, water all around and boats shaping the landscape…

All these…held my attention for quite a while so I forgot to bring back the rented rollerblades. Luckily I managed to get there very fast in the last 5 minutes and I took my shoes back. Otherwise I would have used the rollerblades for the whole day!

My night ended up in a very nice caf้ on Granville Street which is the most “active street” in Vancouver. There, I met my tutor Emily who shared funny stories about her name with us and her husband. Afterwards we wanted to go to Cypress Mountain for a nice view of the city at night but I had lectures on Saturday so…I’ll save this for another occasion.

Saturday was quite surprising! I went at a Romanian party somewhere close to the city and I got to know so many nice and funny people thanks to my new Romanian friend.

On Sunday we decided to go out in nature and explore Grouse Mountain. I did the Grouse Grind- that’s a trail that you have to hike all the way up to Grouse Mountains, pretty good work out, and I loved it! The achievement of being there on top of everything…and seeing the Ocean and the sky sports people were performing was….unbelievable. This city is so beautiful!

I have also seen a Grizzly bear in his natural habitat and watched the Lumberjack Show which was very creative and interesting.

I was so tired and happy at the same time that we had such a nice day and the weather was so great! While planning to go either home or on Granville Island one of my friends called me and suggested me that I should stay more in the city for a surprise! So what other better way than ending your weekend with a surprise? I were shown a very beautiful part of the city called Yale town which was covered by a beautiful sunset, some yacht parties and a nice walk…which started with a “SMILE” sign right before seeing all this beautiful places.

All in all…I would say that this weekend was perfect. I did a little bit of everything and I also studied for one of the courses I love the most! I would call it “a weekend to remember”…but I’m afraid that this is just the start of a lovely period in my life which is going to be transformed in “4 months to remember.”

Now, back to university again and ready for my Social Media for Businesses class! Follow my neverendingfootsteps!See ya soon!
