Not much to report from Mangalore...really cheap food (we are not obsessed with food!!!).. thalis (all you can eat mixed plate delights) for 11 rupees (about 40 cents) and masala dosa (stuffed savory pancake as long as your arm) for 4 rupees!!!!! After a couple of lunches (one before we found a place to stay and then one after checking in) Mark was struck down by a nasty migrane. In a darkened room , curled into feotal stance, waiting for it to pass... after a few hours it subsided a little, went out onto the balconey for some take-away tucker Clare rustled up, a young boy starts to test out his Diwali (Hindu festival of light, sort of like x-mas and new years, but with more explosives) crackers in the underground carpark opposite for optimum acoustics...didn't help Mark's cause...

Woke up with an urge to leave the cheap dosas and thalis of mangalore for greener pastures... a couple of nightmarish buses and a fair bit of confusion later, we had arrived in the Kerelan village of Pallakunnu (we only worked out where we actually were after a few days)...staying at the simple but effective Eeyam lodge....
