So I have started my trip. While not the actual trip per say but I have definitely got the ball rolling. I have planned out my itinerary. I will be traveling from Toronto to Sudbury, ON to Winnipeg, MB to Saskatoon, SK to Edmonton, AB to Vancouver, BC. I have received word that my camera is in and fixed so I can take photos now of my travels. But most importantly of all I have picked up my rucksack from my uncle. Living in Montreal, the Singletons are an interesting family. The mother, an academic, the father, a director of an abuse prevention centre, they are a wealth of knowledge of how to travel on the cheap. They have traveled across the U.K., parts of Asia and most importantly Canada. I got my uncle David's rucksack which served him faithfully on all those voyages. It is a beat up old canvas bag with tie down straps and most important it is water proof. Looking at it now it is a little small. I am trying to figure out how to fit everything I need in there for two weeks. I traveled through Montreal with David this weekend while I was there, biking through the old grain elevators off the coast of the mighty St. Lawrence river. Not many people visit through these giant cement markers of industry gone by, but their contrasting outline against the beauty of the St. Lawrence reminded me why I am doing this trip.
To show Canadians they can still have fun in their own backyard. For under a $1,000 dollars they can travel across Canada for two weeks.
