So Lurvey had a lovely lecture in M2 about the Bot Fly, and discovered they are native to Belize.  He felt that it was desperately important that I know that these absolutely insanely disgusting creature exist.  Here's a link if I haven't shown you it already

Needless to say, I would like to avoid being infected by the bot fly.  Mosquitos in general seem to be the spreaders of all kinds of bad news down there--bot flies, malaria, dengue fever etc.  And I'm not stupid, I'm well aware the Dengue is probably the most dangerous of these things, but really, it is the Boy Fly that grosses me out enough that I want to bring buckets of Deet with me (BUCKETS).  I don't like the idea of caterpillar sized fly larva growing in my skin.  Not at all :)

Planning is still coming along.  Lars had the Belize diving book sent to my house by accident instead of Ithaca or Fairfield, so I'm having fun reading about the various dive sights.  I'm getting pretty excited for my first diving experiences.  Yay for diving :)
