Well, we left Shelbyville this morning, not early, since we don't seem to do anything early on vacation!  Drove through Lexington, KY, not much to report on that city as we drove the outskirts only.  About an hour or so past there, we were able to start seeing the foothills.

Our big event of the day was the Cumberland Gap.  What beautiful scenery!!  We aren't sure what elevation the visitor center was at, but we climbed to Pinnacle Overlook, at 2,440 ft.  Amazing views.  Cliff was right at the edge, looking over the railing!  He took some fabulous picture from the edge of the lookout.  We stopped half way down to a small overlook and took a few more pictures.

From there, we drove on to Johnson City, Tennessee.  Very pretty Tri-City area.  There are a few things we may stop and see tomorrow before we head out.  Tomorrows agenda is to head for Asheville.  Stop at the farmers market there, see if we can't sneak a peak of the Biltmore, then back to Pigeon Forge to check in at the cabin.  Really looking forward to getting to the cabin and having some time to just relax and enjoy one location with some small day trips.

Attaching some pics of the scenery from today.

Maybe you could drive through Ervin, TN and tell us what it's like.
