WOW! I just got out of my Global studies class and we had a guest speaker who is a teacher on the ship for a different coarse.  His talk BLEW my mind! 10 years ago this man started a non-for profit organization in Nepal for girls who are sold at the age of 8 as a sex slave.  It coasts approximately $50 to send a child to school for one year and when parents cannot pay for this anymore they sell their daughters to the sex trade.   The speaker showed many videos he created that explained exactly what this organization does for these Nepali girls.  This foundation, Empower Nepali Girls has no head courters, therefore all the money donated goes strait to helping these girls stay in school each year and eventually grow up to fulfill their dreams of becoming doctors, nurses, TV producers, and many other wonderful occupations.  This program operates in several remote villages in Nepal.  Jeffrey Kottler, the founder, visits these villages each year and brings more volunteers each time.  The speech amazed and inspired me, I even began to cry while listening to his presentation.  This man is doing amazing things and I wanted to share his story with all of you.  Visit his website at www.empowernepaligirls.org, I hope it opens your eyes just as much as it opened mine.  I hope to maybe start a non-for profit organization after college, I just need to find my exact passion.
