I was finally able to get out and see some of the island. I headed up towards Pearl Harbor and then headed north to see Sunset Beach. I thought I might be able to do some snorkeling, but not during the winter here. That is when the big waves hit the islands. So, all I did was watch people surfing, fishing, and playing on the shore. I finally found a place called Kailua Beach that had an island about 1/2 mile off the coast. I decided this would be the place to go snorkeling. The water was a little on the cool side, but nothing like swimming it the White River there in Missouri. I was able to get a few pieces of coral and some shells. While I was out by the island, I got pushed into a rock and got a couple of scratches on my arm. It didn't bleed bad, but I was 1/2 mile off shore, in the ocean, with the possibility of sharks. I swam part of the way with my arm out of the water, but make it to shore without any sitings, lol. I continued east along the coast and checked out a few other beaches along the way. I went by Hanauma Bay, which is the most popular snorkeling place on the island, over 1 million people come there every year. I decided not to do anymore diving for the day and contiued to drive back to my hotel. I am going to go to Hanauma Bay the next chance I get to go out, which might be my last time. I will add more later.
