Felt in a much better mood when I woke up in Albuquerque and set off early to Lubbock, Texas. The drive was unremarkable, across mostly flat farm land, along very quite roads, which is just what I needed. Found a satellite radio channel called Studio 54 that played non-stop Disco classics! Woohoo!!

Drove through some towns that seemed to have seen better days, and also some really attractive, prosperous ones. Spent most of the journey singing along to the likes of Barry White and Loleatta Holloway at the top of my voice.

Arrived in Lubbock around 2pm and checked in at the Embassy Suites. Nice room and nice hotel that had an indoor fish pond! As I arrived, the very smiley girl at check in was just about to welcome me when all her phones rang at the same time. Every time she answered one phone and put them on hold, another rang. Poor girl was getting a bit flustered, and apologising to me at the same time. Didn't bother me at all, just made me laugh. When she finally checked me in, she gave me a $5 gift cert for the hotel shop for my "inconvenience". I was about to tell her that there was no need, but out of the corner of my eye, I caught sight, of the HUGE refrigerator full of ice cream, and I snatched the cert out of her hand and said "Thank you. We'll say no more about it!"

Settled into the room, and made my self a coffee...loving my coffee at the moment! Then after about 20 mins, there was a knock at the door. It was one of the desk staff with a gift basket and a card. She said sorry for the wait earlier, and gave me the basket, which had a chocolate bar, some crisps and 2 bottles of water, and the card was signed by all the desk staff! I LOVE this place!!

Really fancied going to the flicks to see The Dark Knight, but there is no IMAX in Lubbock, so decided to go and see Ted instead. Drove to the cinema, and there was a HUGE line for The Dark Knight. Lot's of people dressed up as Batman...really??? Woman at the box office said I was 5 mins too late for Ted, so I headed of at speed to the other side of town to see if I could catch it there...no luck :(

Gave up and went back to the hotel. Thought I would cheer myself up with some room service, and ordered the most amazing club sandwich and potato skins. I also used my gift voucher to purchase a big pot of Rocky Road ice cream. (Thank you check in girl...I think I love you!)

Thanks to the decent and FREE wi-fi, I was able to watch a few episodes of Eastenders. WTF is Kat's mystery man??? DON'T answer that!! And that means you Cuthbert!!!

For the first time in a while, had a great nights sleep. Really needed it! X

What wonderful service - and Rocky Road. Icecream is but a fond memory for us in No62 until the new fridge-freezer gets delivered on Tuesday (14-21:00 was the only window I could get!). Once here I shall be investing in icecreams!

...but NOT putting any in the new freezer for you. Interestingly, on a HUGE spring clean of our boudoir, we found THREE gorgeous bottles of malt whisky, one belonging to you. You will still be able to taste the gorgeousness of it when diluted with Diet I am sure. Hopefully it survives until your return...
