Made an early start to Palm Springs CA, although it took me AGES to find my car in the 100 degree, underground car park, dragging my bag behind me (now with only one wheel!).

There was the possibility of some storms in the afternoon en route (hence early start). As usual, I avoided the main highways and opted for the back roads. Saw some great desert scenery, and some HUGE sand dunes, that from a distance, looked like a massive dust storm was heading my way. I've been in that part of the world before during a dust storm, and it's a bit scary to say the least!

Drove through the Mojave National Preserve, the northern edge of the Joshua Tree area, and the Yucca Valley. The clouds were gathering fast and looked quite threatening. Anyone that knows me, knows I'm terrified of thunder and lightning.  What made matters worse, I was seeing LOTS of signs warning that I was in a flash flood area. I put my foot down instead of stopping to admire the scenery.

Got to Palm Springs where it was grey and humid...a rarity in those parts. Dumped the car at the airport, which I was a bit sad about (loved that car) and headed to the hotel. Stayed at The Hyatt Regency Suites. Unfortunately, my room wasn't quite ready, so I left my bags, and walked over the road to one of my fav bars called Streetbar. It's mostly older people who just sit around the bar just chatting and having a bevy...very civilised!! Soon as I walked in Taylor the bar tender, who I'd met on previous visits, said hello and put a Scotch & Diet in front of me. Always amazes me how American bartenders remember your name and drink. I've been at Central Station for over 13 years, and some of the staff still give me Jack Daniels LOL!

My suite at the Hyatt, was not as nice as the one in Vegas, but nice all the same. Oh and btw...when I put the Weather Channel on, there was flash flood warnings for the area I had earlier driven through. Apparently one of the small towns I had driven through had been flooded and had a bit of wind damage.

Went out that night and got a surprise when I got a text from Lou and Sam who were just arriving in PS. I've know them both for a few years. We always seem to be in Key West at the same time. Met up with them and got hammered at the Karaoke bar. Had a good laugh, and even tried to sing a song or two!

Friday afternoon, I went over to Cathedral City (about 10 mins away in a cab) to meet up with Lou and Sam for an afternoon bevy. Didn't stay too long though.

Had a good night out, but didn't stay out too long.

Saturday afternoon, I went out for a drink in a bar that was doing Bingo (again). Got involved straight away and won!! I got a very cool book torch, which I will give to George when I get home. Got chatting with Mike who was the bingo caller, and got invited to a pool party just outside PS.

I had the BEST time ever. The house was just stunning! They projected the movie "Full Monty" on to the wall of the house. It was amazing. Of course every time they couldn't understand what was being said because of the accent, they shouted STOP! movie was paused and I was asked to be the interpretor. Had a fab time, especially teaching everyone English swear words. The party goers especially like BOLLOCKS. lol. BIG thanks to Mike for inviting me, and to the hosts.

Been to Palm Springs a few times, and never get fed up with it. Was sad to leave on Tuesday. 4 days was just not enough! X

A present AND stories?

What a great time you are having. Keep avoiding flash floods. Flash should only be used by Molly Wier when she is cleaning your bath...

Haha I've found bollocks is their favourite swear word!! Once I was trying to teach it to my cousin's friends in SC, they kept saying 'Bullocks'!! No it's B-O-L-L-O-C-K-S!!
