Set off just after sunrise from the beautiful Monument Valley. The drive was going to be one of the longest stretches on my road trip. Over 7 hours!

The time really flew past. Very enjoyable drive with some spectacular scenery on first part, then open deserts toward the end.

Once in Vegas, the traffic was awful. Took ages to get from the edge of town to The Cosmopolitan on the strip. Temp reading in my car shot up to 123 degrees outside. Thank God for a/c!!

The Cosmopolitan is an amazing hotel. I had a "Wrap around suite" which sounds extravagant, but actually didn't cost much more than a crap b&b in the Cotswold.

The suite was really nice with a HUGE terrace that went round both sides of the rooms hence "wrap around" I've posted a vid. One mistake though...think I point out the strip, when it wasn't.

Was great being able to watch the Bellagio fountains every time I went out for a smoke.

My stomach wasn't feeling so good, which I put down to heat so I decided the best think to do was go and get hammered! Cure or kill!!

So I'm in Vegas, what to do? Swanky night club? Take in one of the many shows? Gamble at one of world class casino's? no... DRAG BINGO!!!

Started off at a place I had been to many times before called Charlie's. I love this place. It's sort of a gay line dancing club. Great country music, and VERY cheap drinks with HUGE measures! oh and you can smoke anywhere...YAY!!

Last time I was here, they had a very funny black drag queen hosting Bingo. I had the misfortune of winning a line and was called up in front of the packed out crowd to collect my prize. I choose a nice t-shirt, but the host, Michelle Holliday, insisted that I had to put the t-shirt on right there in front of everyone. The crowd went WILD! Well to be honest it was more of a polite clap, and I'm sure I heard the drag queen say "on no...the carbs got her!" cow!!

Fortunately, this night I didn't get a win. But had a great time watching the line dancing, which I am determined to learn at least one dance before I get home!

Jumped a cab to a less trodden part of town, to a dive bar called Snick's. Been here before many times. It's not in the best area, so you need to get a cab door to door. Have had some great times in this bar. Was sad to learn that my favourite bar tender had left. He was a real character. He has an obsession the the man on the box of Scottish Porridge Oats...he even had a website dedicated to this. lol.

From Snick's I got a cab to another bar, the LV Eagle. Bumped in to an old friend there...Moriz. Ended up drinking and chatting till the sun came up. (most bars are 24hrs here) All in all a great night!

Spent most of the next day in the apartment. I've done all the touristy things in Vegas many times, so had no wish to wander around in the 120 degree heat. Went out later on for a couple of drinks, but just a couple, as I had an early start the next morning. Stomach was still a bit dodgy, and I'd not been able to eat anything, but I did order a HUGE gooey chocolate cake and some milk, to see if I could tempt myself. Only managed 1 bite :(

I love Las Vegas. Beautifully tacky, and totally addictive. Hope it won't be too long for my next visit!
