Right at the last minute, I cancelled my hire car with Hertz. Nightmare company. Tried 3 times to change my pick up point. Spent ages on hold and eventually got cut off all 3 times! Just gave up and phoned Avis, who had place just round the corner, and a shiny new Ford Mustang convertible, which is the car I originally booked for the last leg of my trip.

The drive out of Seattle was easier than expected, but driving at 8am with the top down was a bit of a mistake. I was blue with the cold by the time I could find a rest stop to put it back up. I'm sure the other drivers were laughing or more likely thinking "what a wanker" lol.

The drive was STUNNING! I avoided the main route I5, and opted for the more scenic, but much narrower, US 2. I Drove high up into the mountains to a place called Steven's Pass. Even though the sun had finally come out, it was still cold. The weather in the states is crazy, as I drove down the other side of the mountains, I noticed the temp gauge on the car, going up quite dramatically. Went from 50 to 75 in about 20 mins! Finally I was getting a taste of the heatwave. Pulled over as soon as I could and put the top down again. A few miles down the road and the temp had risen again to 86!! WTF? Stopped and had a cake, which I'd got earlier, by the side of this gorgeous lake. Didn't stay too long though, as I heard something moving about in the woods, and they have bears in these parts, and I don't share cake with ANYONE!

Was quite tired after the drive, and was pleasantly surprised by the nice hotel, I'd booked. Great views over the river in Spokane. The only reason I choose to stay in Spokane, was because it was on the way, and just somewhere to crash out after driving, but it really is a nice small city. Took a walk along the river front, and down the main street, and saw the had an IMAX, so decided to see Prometheus. Well there's 2 hours I'll never get back! The reason I didn't enjoy it may have had something to do with what happened just before...

As I bought my ticket, I clocked the Ben & Jerry's counter. Decided to have the Chocolate brownie, hot fudge sunday with whipped cream and chopped nuts. It was HUGE!! As I went to go into the theater, the usher (for the sake of this story, we shall call him C*NT) told me I couldn't bring the desert in. He said the cinema has it's own food on sale upstairs. How the fuck was I supposed to know that?? Film was about to start, so I had to bin it. Btw...the food upstairs was crap, I ordered another small ice cream, but it tasted of evil. The 3D glassed made my eyes sting, or maybe it was the tears running down my face at the loss of my desert?

Weird thing...when I left the cinema at around 9.30, the streets were empty, I mean totally empty, no cars, no people, nothing. Odd!

Had a small nightcap on the way back to the hotel, and fell asleep watching True Blood. X

I know what you mean about Prometheus... I'm sure the script was written by computer.
