Monell's was very interesting. They have multiple locations, we were too early at Monell's on the Manor, pics below, so after Vanderbilt we went to The original location, a very small house with the 4 rooms on the first floor converted to a kitchen and three dining rooms. You sit at 10-16 seat dining tables with as many parties as it takes to fill the table. Then, you are basically served like family. Big bowls of southern style cooking are passed around the table, tomato salad, cucumber salad, cole slaw, biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, smothered chicken, meatloaf, smashed potatoes, whipped sweet potatoes, corn casserole, brussel sprouts, green beans, all topped off with mashed chocolate eclairs for dessert. Needless to say it was really great, except for Grant whom they couldn't accommodate and ate salad and watermelon. Don't worry, we fed him right afterwards, with his favorite fast food - a Whopper! It's hard to eat southern style cooking if you have a dairy allergy. Way to go Grant for being such a trooper.
After dinner, we drove to Opryland, which was very impressive and MASSIVE. We couldn't stay long, but it would have been fun if we could have.
On to Louisville, Kentucky.
