We arrived in Omaha before noon and went straight to the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge where you can stand in Iowa and Nebraska at the same time. There is a National Park Service Lewis & Clark exhibit, and we met a nice ranger that shared his otter with us. We then drove through downtown. Really cool bronze sculptures throughout the city.
Did you know that it was near Omaha that Lewis & Clark had their first of many councils with the American Indians? Also, President Lincoln determined that the westward bound line of the first transcontinental train would be spiked outside of Omaha. Finally, that Omaha was the Capitol of the territory until statehood, when it was switched to Lincoln.
Off to KC-MO (I love saying kay-see MO).
