Hello from Broomfield! My sweatshirts smells like campfire, my hands are a little sticky from marshmellow goo, and my sides hurt from laughing so much. Better yet, I have no mosquito bites! :) After dinner, my host mom thought it'd be a great idea to have a bonfire and s'mores. It was a beautiful evening complete with the absence of the Minnesota state bird, the mosquito :) Helen and I joined our host family, their neighbors (UWP alumni) and their host student, Aubrey, for a wonderful time of laughing, eating and enjoying each other's company. It reminded me of my last weekend in Minnesota which was spent on Lobster Lake in Alexandria, doing that exact same thing!

At today's rehearsal, we engaged in round table discussion with former UWP cast members, asking questions, gaining insight and sharing stories. It was wonderful to meet so many inspiring people! After lunch, I played with the band and then hurried to vocals where we learned that we are giving our first performance tomorrow!

Okay...it's a mini performance. Not as scary as it seems (not that it'd be scary to any of you...just to me!)

Representatives from Vattanfall, the leading European energy company that is sponsoring our European tour, will attend part of our rehearsal tomorrow. Our staff members will be performing two songs and we will be performing two songs. Nevertheless, it feels like a real performance and we are all very excited!

I was told that I have received a speaking part in our performance! One of the compilations that we perform is called "Love Medley" and it is 22 love songs ("Love is A Splendid Thing", "I've Had the Time of My Life", etc...) in 9 minutes! The "narrator" for this part of the show is a snooty gossip columnist named Lana Polana and it is the only character role in the show. Lana takes an avid interest in others' love lives, often forgetting that she has no love life of her own. I was informed today that I will be playing Lana Polana for our American and European tours! A friend of mine, Alejandra, will be Lana Polana in Mexico. She is my backup and vice versa. I'm very excited to have been given the confidence to work on this role!

That's all for now! Before I sign off, I wanted to leave you with some inspiring quotations that I heard at our round table discussion this morning. They are great words of wisdom :) Good night to all!

"Put yourself in other's shoes." (Linda Erley, UWP Alumnus)
"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." (Carl Sagan)
"We can be a voice for those that have no opportunity. People are people everywhere, once you get past the differences. We all have emotions and feelings."

Hi Meggie! I so enjoy hearing about your days with UWP. It sounds like you are kept very very busy, but I'm sure you are enjoying it. I sure wish you were performing closer to Minnesota, but I guess we can't win then all. Do you have a CD, tape, DVD or whatever of any of the shows that you will do? It would be fun to have one of those if there is such a thing. Enjoy your first performance and will be waiting to hear from you again. M&J
