Another train ride today - from Tonbridge to London and then across London to Marylebone Station. Then from there to Warwick Parkway. Worked like a dream . Brian Johnson was there to pick me up in a cool little Mazda convertible. The weather today was grand with nice temperatures and blue skies. What a change from what we have been having here! In fact it was so nice that as I was riding along in the train watching the lovely fields pass by I noticed a guy walking across one of the fields near the tracks who looked like he had no clothes on. As we got closer I found that he really didn't have any clothes on. Not a stitch!! And his flag was flying high. Funny, funny.

Rode through The Hamilton property, Walden Hall, Stratford-upon-Avon, and pass where my great, great aunt use to live. After meeting Iris and getting my things settled Brian and I took a walk around this lovely village. Beautiful church where the girl choir was practicing, took pictures of relatives graves, Went into an even older church where the only thing left is the chancel, but there is a service every Thursday.

On our walk a car passed and turned into a drive. Brian says let's see if they stop in front. They did. He introduced me to the most delightful couple. This couple is quite elderly. He was a local doctor who among other things was the first doctor to enter Belsen for the liberation. But what was the most fascinating were the stories about going to parties at Avon Cliffe. This was after my relatives had left and it was owned , or at least lived in, by the director of the Shakespeare Festival. Stratford is about a 5 minute drive from here. He had stories about when they called him to treat Sir Lawrence Olivier and when 'Larry' played Maldoveo' also a couple of stories about Dame Edith Evans getting in the way in the wings. Just amazing!
After this visit it was back to the house to get ready for supper.

Tony was invited to supper. He is the webmaster who got the email I sent asking if there was someone who could show me Avon Cliff. Supper was so nice and such great conversation.

I will post this as soon as I get WiFi. Here we go again. Brian has wifi, but doesn't know the password and mobile connection here is nil.
