Besides I couldn't add pics from it.
So let's see how much I can remember. Had a glorious breakfast of smoked salmon and poached eggs. Plus tea, homemade fruit compote, toast and homemade jelly.
Margaret drove me into Chippingham to catch the train to Bath. First stop the camera shop and, for sure, lens motor is kaput! So I bought a new camera. If I had bought throw always I would have still had to pay for the processing and I figured it would have probably cost me about the same by the time I finish this trip. Still 3 weeks to go. Cameras have improved since I bought the last one so I have about 3/4 times the zoom and 4 times more storage than my old one
Then first stop -- Bath Abbey. There are some stunning things there, but it is hard to ignore all the modern day additions. TV screens for those who have vision blocked by pillars, an electrical booth. But the fun part was taking the tower tour. Yep, I climbed the stairs to the bell tower. At the moment I am brain dead, and I know it has a name, but the room where the ringers ring, and then up into the actual bell chamber with the 10 bells, behind the clock face, and then up on the roof with great sites of the city of Bath.
Displayed in the Abbey are these fantastic Diptychs. Created by a lady who loves lettering and needlework, she has taken Bible verses and illustrated them in both mediums. Just amazing.
Next stop, the Roman Baths. How interesting. Lois did they have all the videos 10 years ago?How amazing to watch the transformation from what one sees today as it becomes, visually, what it must have been like in 75 AD.
Hopped on the City of Bath tour bus and got as far as the Jane Austin Centre
It was getting later by this time and since Margaret was going to have to come pick me up I headed back to the train station. Was getting pretty tired by this time and ready to get back to Lacock. Asked the attendant at the station where the Chppingham train was, she told me platform 2. I scoot up the stairs to the platform and hop on the train, wrong thing to do without checking, of course! Wrong train! No biggie, I will just get off and take the next train. When I call and tell Margaret she says she will just come and get me at Bradford-on-Avon, which is where I went. All's well that ends well.
Supper at The Sign Of The Angel. Lovely dinner, lots of laughs, just a fun way to end a busy day. At the two tables next to us were a couple of guys. One Margaret had met before. I just wish I could remember all the questions she asked him, as only an 84 year old can get away with. The guy at the other table had his laptop out. So, of course, she started questioning him too. Are you working? , etc. what he was doing was playing solitaire. She said on the computer????? Where are the cards? She is such a dear!!
