The six hour trip passed easily enough and we had a really good/fast meal on the way!

Pumbayon Hotel, Siem Reap; a really comfortable room and use of a large swimming pool - Pam can't wait!  7.00 p.m. we meet the others at Temple Bar in Pub Street, down town Siem Reap.  There is a floorshow of traditional dance, along with a good meal with drinks, so it's a good evening but we will be ready to go at 5.00 a.m. tomorrow and we go to bed earlier than usual.

Off we go in a coach with another local guide, to get our Temple Ticket, with integral identity photo! Then on to Angkor Wat (with hundreds of others in the darkness, like lemmings on a mission) to find a vantage point for the sunrise over the temple.  It is not a great sunrise but it is a great temple and we are very lucky to be able to spend time looking around it, as the day goes on. We also explore two other temples in the area, one of which was made famous by the film, 'Tomb Raiders'. Any one of these temples is simply amazing for the scale of the original enterprise and when so many temples are arranged over such a large area of land, it is mindblowing to contemplate how it was all achieved, bearing in mind the limited technologies available at that time. There is a sad beauty to see how the jungle trees have encroached over the temple walls.

Hot and tired, we relax by the pool. Later P&M take a tuk-tuk into town and find 'Cambodian BBQ', choosing the mixed meat option with snake and crocodile! It was good, cooking our own food at our own, table mounted furnace!

Tuesday morning (Day 27). We will be going the 'Pink Temple' at 1.00 p.m, then on to a floating village and sunset, so we're not sure when we will be able to Blog next because tomorrow we move on to Bangkok. Looking forward to meeting up with Nikki and Mark for the last night of our fabulous Indochina trip.
