A simple 2 hour journey from the Tigers to the Birds by train. We arrived at the hotel and it was lovely with a beautiful English looking garden. We loved it so much we spent a lot of time over the next few days in the garden reading. During the days here is was hot, but as soon as the sun disappeared it was fairly cold and we made the most of the one jumper we bought with us!
The bird sanctuary was very impressive, we hired bikes, and a guide with bino's. The guide was well worth it as he seemed to spot things that were miles away which Dave and I would never have noticed without him.
We saw: peacocks, owls, night jars, herons, cormorants and painted storks. The painted storks were our personal favourite because they made so much noise and were big enough to see without the guide!
At one point we spotted a Jackal and we slammed on the bike brakes to stop and stare. After about 30 seconds I was aware that while we were staring at the Jackal amazed by it's unfamiliarity a group of teenage boys had stopped suddenly to look the same way at us!!
A big shock to us was also the sign on entry to the park - see picture on the right.
Seriously they say their is a tiger roaming the park - initially we though great there is still a chance we see one.... and then the realisation dawned on us of the 2 of us on push bikes being chased by a hungry tiger!
Needless to say we were very relieved that we did not see one today!
