It's Paul, the guest journalist, again. Ready to wrap up the Greek sojourn.

The morning following our last entry we left Crete for Mykonos, a very different island. Where Crete is large, Mykonos is tiny. we rented a car and headed for our hotel, which was definitely the nicest we've visited. When touring Mykonos you will see two colors on buildings: stark white (building) and blue(trim). We figured out that we had a grasp of the architecture (which is lovely) after the first five minutes. We also realized that, when making a list of the top ten tourist attractions in Mykonos you really can't get beyond three: Mykonos town, the straight nude beach and the gay nude beach. Undeterred, we laid out or goals: first; see items one, two and three above. Second, drive every inch of every road on the island. Third, to use all leftover time at the pool bar in our hotel. Items one and two didn't take long. We spent a lot of time at the pool bar.

During our mobile exploration the first day we found ourselves at a beachside restaurant where Megan acquired a male suitor, Dimitris, the waiter. He promised to buy her a cocktail if she came back for dinner. Molly and I were ready to go that evening, but Megan, as you all know, is a shy thing and wouldn't go. Or maybe she was afraid the cocktail would be raki.

Later that afternoon, as we kept our vow to drive all roads on the island, we circled the biggest mountain on the island. This doesn't sound that interesting until you find out that, where the map shows a road all the way around the mountain, the map is a stinking liar. So we covered about ten miles off road on a rock strewn lava field which didn't have a straight or level surface to it's name. I was driving, so was well entertained. The ladies were jolly sports as always, but from time to time some gloom and doomer in the car would point out that it would be iffy as to whether we could walk out to civilization if we disembowelled the car on the rocks we were dragging over or if we drove off one of the cliffs we were skirting (assumiing we survived the fall). Then we saw a sign informing us that we were in a restricted military zone. at that point we thought maybe a quick arrest and an helicopter lift out might be a viable alternative.

We made the circuit and returned to the world of paved roads. Amazingly the car rental company accepted what was left of the car back without complaint. Fortunately they didn't inspect the underside.

We celebrated the end of that day with a fab dinner in town and prepared to finish the island the following day. When that morning dawned we hit the road again. Goals one and two: the straight and then the gay nude beaches. All well and good so far, but when we got to the straight nude beach we were forcefully reminded how much better most people look with their clothes ON. Realizing that this could only be that much more true at the gay nude beach we opted to move on to lunch at the beach where Dimitris was, we assumed, still pining for Megan. Well, pining for her he might have been, but he didn't come across with any cocktails, so after lounging on the beach for a few hours and after a megalunch we packed the seductive Megan back into the car and took her off in search of more generous waiters.

Cocktails poolside, another great dinner, off to bed and we took the ferry back to Athens this morning. The ladies are about to leave for Berlin and that's the end of my part in the saga of Molly and Megan.
