We have lived in Queenstown for about six months and never once have felt threatened. Not even walking home between the hours of 4 and 7am. However, just the other night Molly placed her sweater and jacket down at a bar and had them stolen right from underneath her. Luckily for her she new the bouncer at the door who, by an even greater stroke of luck, saw the whole operation unfold. Tim took his power as a door man and aprehended the thief and went as far as to hold him over the balcony until the police arrived. Yes, that's right, the police were called in to intervene. After a hoopla of events the man was arrested and Molly went home with a borrowed jacket and cab money given to her by a friend.

Two days later the police called and informed Molly that not only did the man turn over her lost property but there were two men involved. The men plea bargined their case and instead of appearing in court opted to each pay a charity $300. One chose a search and rescue charity and the other children's cancer research. And Molly is now again warm.

It's a nice way to leave New Zealand...doing good for the charities of the country. We like to think that just because Molly was out until the wee hours of the morning she in turn is going to find a cure for cancer.
