Queenstown is a rather predictable place. Maybe it's because it's a tourist town and everyone comes in to do the same thing: bungee jump, eat what they've heard is the "best pizza in the world," and take advantage of the always exciting nightlife/cheap beer. But whatever the reason, we have fallen into the same ole routine of having drinks after work. It's just how it happens around here. We serve pizza for five or six hours and then sit at the same table in the back corner with the same people and drink the same beer. Every night just seems to be the same.

After parting ways with Molly since she had to work, Lindsay and I decided we had had enough. Back home there are options for a sober night. There is mini golf, bowling or going to see a movie. But since mini golf is only open in the day, bowling only exists in lawn bowling form and movies are only played as late as 8:30 pm we were stuck with the only option of going to a bar.

In an attempt to be adventurous we decided if we were going to go out to a bar that we were going to go to a bar other than Winnie's. And to make our evening even more out of the ordinary we conceptualized H20 2K5: a tour of all the Queenstown bars in which we would drink one glass of water at each establishment.

We started at the eastern most point of town at a bar named Dux de Lux. It was still early in the evening and the bars were quiet so when we ordered our water from the bar I made the lame comment that we were just waiting for friends. Turns out that we didn't need to make up excuses to order water...all the bartenders seemed happy to serve it.
After our first glass we headed next door to Monty's followed by another ten bars.

Since beer is so cheap in our respective bars (winnie's and buffalo) this was a great way to see the rest of the town bars without breaking the bank so to speak. We took pictures of us at each of the bars in order to document the evening. Not that we were likely to forget the happenings of the night since there would be no beer in our system to make events hazy.

The night was ended at Buffalo where we clued Molly in on our night's activities. We of course ordered water from her and she made us a shaker of water and made us take shots. It was a great way to end the night.

Unfortunately we were too tired and full to keep going. There must be thirty or some odd bars left to hit and we plan to do that in the upcoming weeks. H20 2K5 is hot.
