We're still in Nelson and it's still raining. Our plans of walking the Abel Tasman have fallen through. The weather is just not permitting.

Instead we have seen movies and sat in cafes. Molly and I have began a new obsession with cafes and drinking hot drinks, her tea and me flat whites. Not only does it pass the odd evening hours when it is too cold to be outside and too early to go to bed but it sometimes results in us being served free food and it's a good way to improve our scrabble or trival persuit skills.

Yesterday we were invited to go see Wonderland the musical. The girl who played Alice doubles as the ticket seller at the movie theatre. She must have thought we were really lame (we asked her if the theatre was going to be open on Christmas Day and she couldn't imagine why anyone would want to watch movies on christmas!) and invited us to go see her show. It was a cute local theatre and cheap enough so we took the afternoon to go see it. It really was an Alice and Wonderland like no other. The Queen of Hearts rapped and Humpty Dumpty was dressed as Elvis. The singing could have used a bit of fine tuning and the dancing was nothing like the movie Center Stage but we had a good time. You can still hear Molly singing the theme song while she walks down the street.

Tomorrow we're going to change our scenery a bit and drive to the beach of Kaiteriteri. We're hoping that the weather will be on our side and we'll be able to soak up some rays.
