After a week of apple thinning, we decided the life wasn't for us. Between standing in the freezing cold rain and having the dodgy indians borderline stalk us we figured we should take the money and run. However, taking the money wasn't as easy as we thought.

It took three days of expensive cell phone calls, meeting our contractor in parking lots, making plans to meet at other Gisborne landmarks, and lots of arguing before we finally got our checks. We were disappointed to only get $308 dollars each for the week. That's only $5 an hour. Minimum wage is $9. Something is wrong with that picture. Hmmm...

Anyways we've moved on to better places now. We are now in Napier, a couple hours south of Gisborne. It's known as the art deco city since back in 1931 the town was devistated by a 7.9 scale earthquake (did we mention that there are earthquaks here all the time in NZ...we can't wait for one!) and they had to rebuild. And being 1931 what better way to rebuild than in an art deco style. Molly and I absolutly love this town and we can't get enough of it. I told her that when I make my first million I'll buy a house here. YOu can all come visit.

Tomorrow we are planning to hang out in the city and then the following day drive 20 min south to Napier to take a bike tour of the wineries. Since this is the main wine district of NZ what better way to experience it...wine tasting on bikes. So fun!
