We can't believe that is another country down. Spain far surpassed our expectations. The people are very pleasant, the food is good, and the cities and sites are beautiful. The siesta culture here is quite amazing. Like clockwork at 2pm the cities shut down for a couple of hours (after opening about 10 or 11). Shops reopen at about 5 for evening crowds and stay open varied hours into the night. And do they ever like their nights here! Bars stay open until dawn and many remain packed. In Madrid we passed a pub that was advertising a hockey game to be shown live at 3am. It is said that the people livng in Madrid sleep on average an hour less then the rest of Europe. Granada was lively with a small town feel and the Alhambra that we will never forget seeing. Seville was much more metropolitan but was still in touch with the laid back tapas life. It also had a starbucks on every corner we think. Barcelona is the definition of Spanish sass. They definitely know how to live life. It was hard to decide our favourite place here so we won't. We will gladly return to any of the places we visited. Spain is a truly beautiful and vibrant country.
