The Golden Triangle is the confluence of the Ruak and Mekong Rivers, creating the boundaries between Thailand, Laos, and Burma. This picture shows Thailand in the south, Burma in the upper left, and Laos to the right. We took a cruise along the Mekong, and visited a small tourist island that's technically part of Laos, but is visitable without a Laotian visa. It exists only to sell souvenirs, like snake whiskey, to tourists like me. And it works! In addition to a small bottle of snake whiskey, I bought a few knickknacks too.
