We got up at 5 am this morning to take a 6 hour bus ride across the border into Copan. In an hour, a group of us is off to see the Mayan ruins, which are within walking distance of this small town.
A great group of people on the tour. Incredibly, besides our tour leader, I´m the only American! We have Kiwis, Canadians, Brits, Australians, a Norwegian, and Swiss. Quite the international group.
Everything is good sofar healthwise, except for a few sneezing fits I´ve had. I must be allergic to something here.
Tomorrow will be an adventure, as we spend 12 hours on the bus!
Update from home:
The Mayan ruins were really neat. There were also some gorgeous and very friendly macaws by the entrance, begging for food and putting on a show for us humans. Wayne and Carrole told me that the first two segments of this tour, from Mexico City to Antigua, were really heavy on the historic ruins, so I may have to do that trip at some point.
Make sure you check out the video of the macaws spreading their wings!
