After the hectic start in Jakarta, it was nice to relax for a couple days on the beach town of Pangandaran. The first day we went to the National Park to see the porcupines, deer, monkeys, and scorpion with our great local guide Aep. The second day, Aep took us to some local industries where they make prawn crackers, brown sugar, and puppets before we went to the Green Canyon, which was unfortunately brown due to the heavy rains the night before. After a BBQ lunch on the beach, we went to the Chinese Wall, a large stone wall built by a hotel for sight seeing that offers a great panorama view of the area. An unplanned diversion to a local water park allowed us to cool off and relax for the small fee of 15,000 rupiah (under $2 US), before heading back to town to see Aep's personal mini-zoo, where he keeps his own porcupines and turtles. I was also able to snap some pictures of flying foxes at sunset.
