A bright and early start to the day as we leave the city to reach the famed Cu Chi tunnels before the influx of fellow tourists. The introductory film we watched about the tunnels was authentic Communist propaganda from way back in 1967! Our tour included examples of authentic tunnel entrances, bamboo traps for unwary American soldiers, a disabled tank, and views of specialty rooms like the kitchen, hospital, sewing room, etc. Two of our group took the opportunity to fire some heavy caliber weaponry on the range. And of course, no tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels would be complete without ducking down and waddling through a section of tunnel. Only four of us survived the claustrophobia enough to actually go through, and even then only the first section. Definitely built for the more slender Vietnamese!
