Well, it was quite the journey getting here--over 24 hours, arriving at 1 in the morning, which is 10 am my time. On the last leg from Tokyo to Singapore, I was constantly dozing off and dreaming about landing. We must have landed in my dreams at least a half dozen times before we did for real.

I managed to break my earphones, but other than that everything is okay. I got up early this morning for a walking tour to the riverfront area. Saw the Fullerton hotel, the classic Cavanagh Bridge, the Clark Quay, the statue of Sir Raffles, the Parliament and Supreme Court buildings, etc. After that, it was off to Chinatown, where I saw an historic mosque, Hindu temple, and Buddhist temple all within a few blocks of each other. I also managed to buy a watch to replace mine that died right before I left. Lots of walking and sightseeing, and then it was back on the metro to little India, where I saw all the sights before stopping at an Internet Cafe to type this. The humidity and all the walking have really taken their toll on me--I've just been dripping sweat all day. I've been hydrating like crazy but haven't had to use the restroom yet--as soon as it goes in I just sweat it out.

Dinner tonight was at Long Beach seafood restaurant. Getting there was a bit of a journey--subway, then bus, then a taxi to the wrong Long Beach (didn't know it was a chain), then a second taxi. Michael Tang hosted me, Albert Hahn, Bob Linn and his wife to welcome us to Singapore for the first time.
