So, back in smelly Rotorua and we decided to go to a Hangi, a tradtional Maori entertainment night. They picked us up from the centre of town and brought us to thier Maori village, stuck us all in a big marquee with loads of food that they had cooked the traditional way in the ground (the food was delicious, by the way) and put on a big traditional Maori dance performance, with the likes of the Haka thrown in thier as well.
We had expected it to be really tacky and touristy but it actually wasn't like that at all. it was very informative, telling us about thier history and customs, and the chief of the village even took the piss out of out of what they were doing. He said as tacky as it may be to some people at least its keeping their culture and heritage alive.
A good night.
