After a quick goodbye from our new friends we boarded our 15 hour bus journey. We were not looking forward to this but knowing it was an overnight one we thought we could sleep-boy were we wrong! The bus was worse than the old bus Eireann school buses the use to coach the farmer children to their schools. I (being Emmet decided to write this one as I am a much more talented moaner than John) had about enough leg room to my knees and no more. I was also quite sick and the bus hadn't made it far down the road until I had to quickly get off and dart to the other side of the car park to, how you say it, puke my ring up? Not far after I wasn’t as lucky and just about got the window open (thank god you could open the windows) and spewed out of it while going through the middle of the town. Morto. Thank god no one else noticed it on the bus, that or it’s quite the norm in India.

Finally got to Dhera Dun and was so exhausted I just kept falling asleep everywhere (like a 5 minute auto rickshaw ride-which you don’t want to fall asleep in as you’ll probably fall out. John tried to sort out a train out of there as we were planning to stop in Varanasi before heading to Kolkata to get our flight. But tickets to pretty much everywhere were sold out for the coming week. However with a little bit of luck and the Irish charm and them probably feeling sorry for us because I’d say we looked some state we managed to get emergency tickets to Kolkata (meant not be able to see Varanasi=sad face).

So that evening we boarded our 38 hour train journey to Kolkata. It was luxury compared to the bus from hell. We had an air con carriage-our own beds with blankets, pillows, sheets and people came round at regular intervals with hot food and tea to buy. Time flew-slept the shit out of that bed. The only down side was the one sharing the compartment with us snored worse than my dad.
