I woke this morning to the bright sun!  Yeah!  We didn't have to report to class until 10:30, so that was very nice.

We had a course overview and question session and began the lecture portion.  Our  professor was very entertaining.  After our hour and fifteen minute lunch break we headed back to the room for an afternoon session with a principal from the Clifden area.  I learned a great deal about the Irish education system already.  That's good, since I need to write 2 papers regarding that before I leave!

After class we headed back home and hung out until our trek into town for dinner.  We ate at a pub called McSwiggins.  It was good food too!!!  (Yes, I did have a chicken salad, but it was spicey chicken with extra stuff in it that you wouldn't get in the US.  I will try and branch out tomorrow.)

Our next activity was watching a local soccer "football" game.  Galway was playing against Cork.  Soccer is very popular over here.  It was interesting to observe the fans.  A little Irish girl was at her first game ever and chatted with her dad the whole time.  She sat right behind me.  It was so fun to listen to.  I chuckled several times.  I had to laugh when I  discovered that the field is called Terryland and their mascot is Terry the Tiger.  I will try to attach some photos to this post.

The Irish day wouldn't be complete until a trip to one of the pubs.  A large group of us walked down to The Quay.  (Pronounced "key").  Boy was it busy!  The entire area around there was packed.  There was twice as many people out and about the streets as there had been the night before. (The pub last night was called the King Fisher, I think.  Tonight's pub had much more character and a live band.  No traditional Irish music though.  They did play quite a few Beetle numbers though, dear hubby!

Tomorrow at 11 am we have a walking tour of Galway and then I am free for the rest of the day. Not sure what I will do, got to start studying and researching soon.  I will probably squeeze in a nap at the very least since it is now 2 am.  (Yet, my body thinks it's only 9:00.  I guess I'll adjust sometime soon?!)
