Where I stayed
Today we were going to take our first submarine ride. We are going on the Atlantis Submarine. We drove into Bridgetown again. We walked past the Bridgetown Jewish Synagogue. Several hundred Jews were persecuted by the Dutch in Brazil and moved here to start again. They were the ones that introduced sugar to Barbados. I would have like to stop in to take a look, but we needed to be at the dock to get on the sub.
We had to take a boat to board the sub. While we were waiting, the sub popped up a little way from our boat. Once they had off-loaded the previous passengers. We were asked to board. We were given instructions on what to do in an emergency. We could not get out, so I think the only thing we can do in an emergency is to just sit back, relax, and wait to die. They explained that the deeper we go, certain wavelengths are absorbed by the water and blue is about the only color that can be seen. We were only going down about 100 feet or so. We had a depth gage so we could see or progress. We went past several coral reefs and a shipwreck. I was surprised that the camera could take pictures through the windows. I had to use manual focus to take the pictures.
We went to Saint Lawrence Gap again for dinner. We saw Pisces Seafood Restaurant and wanted to try it. We got a table on the balcony and had a nice view of the bay. It was a good choice. The food was very good!
