We left Erie mid-morning and expected to get to Bermuda late in the afternoon. Everything seemed on track to make it to Bermuda today, until we got close to Charlotte.  There were thunderstorms around Charlotte and we were rerouted to Savanna.  We were allowed to deplane and walk around the airport.  After a few hours, we boarded the plane again and went to Charlotte.  Once we arrived, we were informed that our plane to Bermuda left eleven minutes ago.

We immediately went to the airline customer service to see if we could catch another plane to Bermuda.  Unfortunately, there was not another plane until tomorrow.  We were told that we could be routed to JFK and possibly catch a late flight into Bermuda.  It was going to be tight.  We only had about ten minutes to catch the other flight.  We hoped it also would be late leaving JFK.  We took a gamble that we could make it.  We lost!

The plane was already gone by the time we made it to JFK.  We were told we could go on the first flight out tomorrow morning.  We were not happy.  We could have gotten a hotel, but we already paid for one in Bermuda.  We decided to save money and sleep in the airport.  The international terminal had some restaurants that were still open and we got our supper.  We found a stone bench in a deserted alcove and we made it our home.  It wasn't comfortable, but we could lie down.   We slept for a few hours.  Kim wanted to brush her teeth and asked for my bag.  I was hesitant to give it to her, but she would be suspicious if I told her no.  I had taped her ring in the Imodium box.  Kim is a consolidator and I could just see her throwing away the box to save a little more space or I was afraid she would see the ring.  When she returned, I made an excuse to look in the bag.  She didn’t find it or throw it away!  If she had thrown it away, I was going to make her go back in and get it if she wanted to get married.
