After a long trip through both Montana and Nevada, we arrived at a city called Wells, recomended to us as a place to stay before continuing on toward Reno by some outstanding young lad working at Subway (eat frrresh!).

Along the way we drove through the sierras of Nevada and peaked at an elevation of about 2000m.  The drive was remarkably uninteresting (Saskatchewan-like) except the terrain was barren and sandy.

Up to this point it was snowing all the way from Calgary to Wells, Nevada.  Yes, the desert had snow, about 6-9ft of it.  Way more than Alberta which had none.  To top it off, the weather felt colder the entire way.

A Motel 6 was open and looked really cheap (and was) but was still a decent place to stay - clean, but the sink was in the living room (not the bathroom - turns out this is typical of all Motel 6's).  Anyway, we signed a bunch of forms as you normally do and were asked if we needed a wakeup call and declined.

We fell asleep around 4am but despite our request for not being disturbed, we were woken up around 6:30am.  This was not the normal wake up call though.  The entire room was moving violently all of a sudden - back and forth (apparenlty Boldi fell out of his bed).  We were experiencing an earthquake that was a 6.3 on the Richter scale.

I thought it was fun, but Boldi was ready to leave.  I remember trying to go back to sleep - Boldi said something like 'What about the aftershocks' and I replied 'I'm too tired for aftershocks'.

Despite my attempts to doze off again, Boldi was intent to get the hell out of there.  And long story short, after two hours of sleep we were back on the road again.
