It was only Teresse, Courtney, Kylie and I who were actually going into the Canyon. The rest were just doing the short flight around the Canyon.
We had to get weighed and then waited about an hour before we got into the helicopter. It probably took about 45 minutes until we started to descend into the Canyon. It was great. As we flew down we had a great view of the village and the surrounding area.
First off we had to pay the locals about $65 to be on their land. Next we decided we would hire horses which cost another $70
We were lucky enough to have our own guide who happened to be 11 years old. They don’t usually have a guide take you the whole way but she obviously felt like coming with us.
On the way we passed a beautiful waterfall, a cemetery and many other things.
We had to tie up our horses and walk the rest of the way to the waterfall. As we got closer we found a small track which made its way down to the Waterfall. We had to go through a cave which I was a bit freaked about going through as I hate caves. But the other guys talked me round and I was fine. After the cave we could see the waterfall close up and the extremely steep path down to the bottom. Well it wasn’t even a path. We had to climb down to the bottom using these poles and chains that have been planted into the cliff. The people at the bottom seemed a bit shocked watching us come down as they had their hiking gear on and we came down with just our runners on and Teresse trying to carry her handbag
It was such a great feeling actually being in the Canyon and meeting the locals.
It did cost a bit of money but was well worth it for sure. It is something I will remember forever.
They had a little café there so we sat down and had a drink and spoke with our young guide.
We also met her younger brother and sister. They were all so cute. They wanted us to take lots of photos of them.
Next we sat outside and waited for our helicopter which would take us back
After a long day I had a quick shower and got ready for our Christmas party. It wasn’t Christmas yet but Cap said it was better to do it now rather than in Vegas. I had diner first at the lodge with Teresse and Heather and Cap joined us also. Now was time for the party. We had to bring our presents along. We all had to take a number. In number order we had to go to the front and we could either choose a present from the table or take a present off someone else first. I ended up with a little clock that someone had brought from Sea World; the only other things left were calendars or a flamingo hat.
After our party it was off to bed as I was pretty tired after a long day and we were off to Vegas tomorrow!!
