Most of the time we spent in Auckland was geared towards leaving New Zealand: packing our bags and clearing out the rental car. On our first full day however, we took the bus into the city centre. There wasn't much we wanted to see there as we'd seen similar sights in other parts of the country.
As we were walking to the Sky Tower we bumped into an Irish guy we sailed with on the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. He was working in the city on meagre wages; it was good to see him.
At the Sky Tower we got the lift to the observation deck. From here we could see the whole city and all of the crazy idiots doing the Sky Jump, 192m to the ground. We'd paid the extra to go up another seven floors and from here the view was the same but we could see the sky jumpers and everyone doing the Sky Walk 360 around the tower.
Later in the day we went to the top of Mount Eden, a hill near where we were staying, for more views of the city and photo opportunities.
Once we were packed the next day Mark had another hair cut and then we drove to the artsy fartsy part of town, Parnell, for a wander around the shops.
By 10am we were packed and ready to go to the airport for our three hour flight to Fiji. On the way there we had to say goodbye to our car after five weeks great service and get the courtesy bus the rest of the way.
Love Theresa and Mark xxxx
