At 6am the sun started coming up and we had a walk around, an old lady shouted bungalow at us from down on the beach and we soon found ourselves in a 400bt bungalow nodding off to sleep.
When we woke we realised that perhaps the bungalow wasnt quite the palace it had seemed when we had dropped down onto the beds that morning! It was dark and dingy, so we decided that this would be a one night only stay! The rest of the day we had a walk about on the beach and got some food, but basically took it easy.
The following morning we hauled our stuff to a guesthouse at the top of the road, which was cheaper, brighter, cleaner and had bigger rooms. We then went down the road to get some brekkie, only for the rain to start pouring down. When we tried to get back to the guesthouse the road was more like a river and the rain wasnt stopping. I think we were almost swimming back.
The majority of our time on Ko Tao was pretty similar to this. One afternoon when it was raining so much we got scooters (which apart from pickup trucks were the only form of transport on the island) and rode down to the mini golf and bowling centre, and then on to the next beach. As Theresa wasn't overly confident on the scooters though (particularly after she got stuck in a load of mud) we decided that was far enough.
Another day we went out on a boat trip, and although it didn't rain the weather still wasn't great. On the boat trip we stopped at a few bays around the island, and did some snorkelling (even Mark did the Snorkelling!), and then went to this little island that was connected to two other islands by only a thin strip of sand which was really picturesque.
After Ko Tao we decided to move on to Ko Phangan, for the full moon party. Considering how tired we were on the night ferry, we booked tickets to travel on the Catamaran instead. Big Mistake!!
