Glenns Ferry, Idaho to Mt. Ranier, Washington

Tried to sleep in but now my body is used to getting up at the crack of dawn or earlier.

The drove to Mount Ranier will not be that long but the drive to the campground is on the other side of the mountain.  Since I don’t have a reservation the need to get there before all the walk-in spots are taken becomes critical.

Its taking a lot longer because of all the road construction leading up to the mountain.  As I get closer I must pass at least 25-30 owned and operated fruit stands.  Fresh peaches, apples, cherries are plentiful and you can get a good deal.  The problem is none of them ship so its up to the individual to run the treasure to the local UPS, with the exception of blueberries (too fragile).

Arrive at the south entrance but the Cougar Rock Campground is on the west side of the mountain meaning another 25 miles to go and it already 3pm.  Lots of vistas as I head through the mountain but there is a lot of haze around it (thank you West Coast), eventually I get close enough to grab this shot.

Pull into the campground and its my lucky day so I sent up the tent.  Then remember I need to find a WiFi to update the blog but more importantly order flowers for my wife’s birthday.  Found a great little inn/general store owned by a nice Asian American couple who will let me use the connection as long as I order something. I decide on their version of Thanksgiving, a turkey, cream cheese and cranberry sandwich with a side of fries, it was delicious and I was able to make through without passing out on the keyboard.
