Where I stayed
Today was a relaxing day by the hotel pool. The weather has been perfect! It is hot, sunny and beautiful day and night. It is actually Monsoon Season right now and should be rainy...I lucked out! After my day at the pool I decided to venture out and go away from the main strip. It was nice to see different areas of the city and the different shops, restaurants and hotels along the back streets... found some well hidden nice, nice hotels.
I took a couple pictures of the sky (it looked pretty). It was now getting dark and looked like it would begin to rain at any moment (it didn't) and I realize I have been walking for a long time.
I don't know what direction my hotel is and continue to walk. I'm feeling a little uncomfortable about now- no tourists anywhere to be seen, it is now dark and all the Tuk-Tuk drivers are asking me "where you froooom?" "You want ride?" I choose not to take a ride because I felt I could figure it out... Well, I finally see a busy intersection with a traffic light. I reach the corner and still don't know where I'm at! I realize that I am now on the "outside" of the moat. I don't remember crossing any water... I decide to go RIGHT. I walk and walk and walk... nothing familiar. Then out of nowhere I see the Starbucks sign! I was so happy... I knew where I was! I love Starbucks (BTW Starbucks here is the same price as in the US). It is now 9pm and I make it back to the hotel and decide to eat dinner- tired of Thai food... I found a great Middle Eastern Restaurant next to my hotel "Jerusalem Falafel Restaurant" Very good and reasonably priced.
