I missed my trip to London due to sickness so I had to lay low this weekend. Today we took a ten minute train ride south of Cork City to County Cobh. In this town they have the Fota Wildlife Zoo. A couple other students from Quinnipiac had went and said it was worth going to so we decided to check it out.
It was different because a good majority of the animals were freely roaming the zoo. My favorite 'free roamer' was definitely the kangaroo's! A couple times one would dash out in front of you...a little frightening but cool at the same time.
It was funny to watch all the children interact with the animals. They would walk straight up to a kangaroo that would be their size (or bigger) and stair it right in the face or chase after it. They seemed to have no fear of the animals.
At the end of our visit there was a "Cheetah Run". During this they drag a dead animal across a zip line to show how fast cheetah's can run. It was cool to watch but I didn't enjoy the tearing apart of the animal at the end - a little graphic!
Check out the pictures and videos! - There is an interesting video of two ducks mating!
