This morning we woke to our alarm once again- so much for a relaxing holiday hey! But you couldn't have kept my eyes closed any longer as I was so excited about today's adventures. We set off early to the pier again but this time to catch the ferry to Alcatraz. We were a little early so we grabbed a coffee and banana at the cutest little cafe right where the ferry docks. We were feeling very tired from our big night but it's incredible how you can pull through when on holidays! Haha

We boarded the ferry and set off to Alcatraz. It was the best view of the city and bridge and we even got to ride next to sea lions who were showing off in the water below us. After a short trip we had arrived. We were pushing time this morning due to the NFL game starting at 1.20pm in Oakland so we moved quickly to the audio tour in the cell block. We wandered through the cell block, dining hall, library, exercise yard and listened to all the history of this place. We saw the cell that Al Capone was held in and heard the story of two men who carved soap to look like their heads so a to fool the guards in their attempt to escape. We got the best photos from the outside viewing dock then had a look around the square before boarding the ferry back to the pier.

From here we caught a cab to the subway which took us to Oakland for our first NFL game: Oakland raiders vs. Denver Broncos. We arrived just in time to pick up our tickets and enter the stadium to see the first touchdown. Can you believe they have massive car park parties!? All the cars and trucks had like eskies, fridges, bbqs on the back of them and all the raiders fans were out there drinking and partying to music and their cheers. It was crazy busy but everyone in high spirits for the final game for the season. Our seats were perfect, we even got next to some friends from our contiki tour. The atmosphere was incredible, raiders fans are certainly very passionate! Unfortunately the raiders lost 14-34 but it was so great being amongst the fans and seeing it live!

After the game we made our way back to the hotel to collect our luggage and then went straight to the SFO airport to catch our flight to New York City! So ready to do some serious shopping and catch up with our friends, Josh and Jenelle and their kids. Contiki was awesome and we met some really fabulous people.

I feel very blessed on this trip, with every adventure exceeding my expectations and every moment becoming a memory etched in my heart. I really am living the American dream.
