This morning we got up early to enjoy breakfast in the lodge at the Grand Canyon National Park. We then set off to the location where we would take a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. As you could imagine I was beyond excited as this was yet another tick on my bucket list! We had to wait for an hour or so before it was our turn, but boy was it worth it. Paul and I got the front seats which was ideal- right up close to the pilot with an unobstructed view of the canyons. We flew for about ten mins over the snow filled fields with the amazing pine trees below us, until we flew over the canyons.

This was another of my "moments!" It was even grander than I expected! To think that this is a natural wonder of the world, with so much history trapped inside the layers of rock. To put it in perspective the pilot pointed out a tiny rock formation at the top of the imperial canyon- that tiny, minuscule rock was actually 30 storeys in height! We flew over the Colorado River too which was so incredibly turquoise blue- apparently it's because of the iron and copper in the water. I can't even put into words how incredible it was! We were flying for about 45 minutes and it is without a doubt the best part of my trip so far! (I keep saying that with everything though, right?)

It is so cold here- with the minimum last night down to -7 and today, no more than 2 degrees max! I'm loving the snow on the ground and the way it fell on the mountain tops. It's really fun dressing for the snow and cold but I hate unlayering every time we go inside! After the flight, we hung out at the sports bar inside the national park where the boys watched football games all day while the girls sat around talking. It was lots of fun to get out of the cold and just enjoy each other's company without being rushed to see everything!

In the afternoon, a group of us walked back to the grand canyon to watch the sunset. Allison and I decided to take it to the extreme by taking off our tops for the iconic "topless pic!" It was so damn cold! But it had to happen haha I was definitely out of my comfort zone and a memory of the trip that will last forever!

Tonight, a group of us rugged up with jumpers, jackets, beanies, scarfs, socks and everything else to keep warm as we walked by the canyons to enjoy a nice dinner at the Arizona Room. I had salmon, brown rice and veg. It was so nice to finally have a real meal- I'm missing veggies so badly! After dinner we went back to Shannon's room for a few drinking games. It was so funny playing bi-kerk, Cheers Governor, Clap That and Drink Driver. We purposely didn't have a late night in preparation for Vegas tomorrow!

Our stay at the Grand Canyon exceeded my expectation once again. I'm very much looking forward to Vegas but don't want to say goodbye to the friends we've made- as some are leaving us in Vegas! Boo!

Goodnight from the Grand Canyon xx
